From the banks of the river In the sounds of the slithering snakes With venom seeping through their veins To the sounds of the eerie church bells That ring like a funeral march.
You brought me to the water’s edge To take my plunge And never be seen again. Disappearing in the water As black as the ravens That show the darkness of the souls Of the lives it has claimed.
I sit at the banks, Awaiting for my endless time to end, As I pull against the current Not letting you claim another Victim-- To feed into the mouth of the river.
Death, you are the river! With your snapping turtles Biting their victims, To the alligators swarming Another helpless fish carcass. All turning the surface red With blood overshadowing The dead fuzzy caterpillars.
