Her eyes heavy like sunken logs. Some soothing smooth current rocks her to sleep. Into the restless night creatures stir. Drifting black beady eyes of alligators peek slowly through the surface. Breaking elements – water and air. Serpents stalk prey in the trees nearby. Turtles paddle to the safety of their branches. The water is her breathing, filling up the smallest of canals, getting heavier with each breath. Abandoned bridges leave gaping holes in her chest, until she flows back together. The silver moon guides her journey through the ink colored night. All a lullaby to rock her to sleep until the sun rises.
